My name is Fanny Schoug and I’m a 23 year old undergraduate from Sweden. My major is Strategic Communication and Digital Media, and my interests include public relations, marketing and digital media.
This fall I enrolled the Institute for International Business program (IIB) in New Paltz with the hope of having the experience of my life. You could say that I am more than excited about this opportunity. I have already fallen in love with New York, I mean, how could I not? It took one glance out the window of the bus we arrived in, and I understood what all of the fuzz was about. New York City truly is “the city of dreams”.
Part from my interests in communication and digital platforms I absolutely love to travel and this is what I usually spend all of my free time (and money) on. I’ve travelled through, and lived in, a lot of different countries and I just think it’s the best opportunity to experience different cultures. Not only to get a broader perspective on life in general but also in order to understand the business culture in other countries. I’ve never been to the US before and of course this contributed to why I was so excited when I got the opportunity to participate in the IIB-program. The program is quite unique because it consists of both international business classes and an actual internship with an organization in NYC!
For as long as I can remember my dream and hope has been to study abroad and do an internship so when I got accepted I literally screamed with joy. As I am writing this one of my dreams is being fulfilled, and I couldn’t be happier! I don’t know what I will do for the next couple of days, weeks or even months, what I do know is that they will be filled with a lot of hard work and challenges but also with endless experience, possibilities, new friends and unforgettable memories!
All the best, Fanny
