Right across the street from where we live there’s a place called Jacob’s Pickles, and every time we’ve passed by that place it’s always super busy. So we told ourselves that we have to check it out some time since it’s apparently a very popular place. Henrik went by Jacob’s Pickles around 1pm this Sunday when he was out walking to get a table for me, Katrina and himself. However, the waiting line for a table was 2,5 hours!! Apparently the waiting line for their brunches is always huge so they’ve made up a system where you pass by the restaurant to put your name on the list for a table, and then they text you once you’ve gotten a table. So as long as you live close by and aren’t starving, you can go down to get your name on the list and then either go back home to chill or do something else nearby. So we decided to go for a walk around the block to enjoy the nice weather while waiting.
Jacob’s Pickles serves “comfort food”, which they describe as: “Comfort food is about starting from scratch and making good food for good people”. It’s a very casual setting with “back-to-basics” kind of cooking. My catfish tacos were great, and I think Henrik was full for the rest of the day after finishing his chicken & pancakes.
Overall a great place for a casual Sunday brunch, however, not worth the 2,5 hours of waiting.
